Coniapple
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its leaves)This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 58 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in thick, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the soft wood is brown.
The tangled mess of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with sparse amounts of tiny, 5 pointed leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are green on the sides and indigo at the center.
In early spring, it produces many giant, light blue blossoms with wide petals. They are hardy and have an overpowering scent that smells like glue.
In late autumn it produces small, pleated fruit. The crispy orange skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is spicy and savoury, and the crunchy green flesh is very savoury and very dry. The dark grey seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
