Silverleaf Pineapple Flower

This colossal flower grows up to 8.7 feet (2.6 meters) tall. Its silver stem is very thin, and the huge, burgundy leaves are 7 pointed with rounded edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.

Two small flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 96 cm (37.8 inches) wide, with grey petals on the lower layer and aquamarine petals decorated with beige dots on the inner layer. The central disk is magenta. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 45 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a fairly strong scent that smells like pineapple, and it has lots of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
