Silverfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 65 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, twisting trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the light wood is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of large, finger-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally brown.

In early spring, it produces balls of medium-sized, silver blossoms with circular petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like a damp log.

In early winter it produces , circular fruit. The waxy light grey skin is thick and bland, and the soft slate flesh is sour and very juicy. The beige seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
