Yellow Spike Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall. The stiff, pointed stem is yellow, and is covered in sharp spines. The very thick, lime trunk can grow to as much as 13 feet (4.0 meters) in diameter. Its green branches trail down to the ground.

The smooth-edged, thick leaves are either grey or caramel, with slate dots. They are flexible, and easily come away when pulled.

It is fast growing, taking 6 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are either yellow or magenta, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 2 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 39 petals. It has a powerful scent that smells like onion.

The caudiciform's skin is extremely thick, the silver flesh is waxy, and the peach sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
It can survive a very long time without water.
