Clinging Sickleflower

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its orange-yellow stem is thin and splits into dozens of branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the giant, lime green leaves are sickle shaped with rounded edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

A single small flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 10 cm (3.9 inches) wide, with petals that are lilac in the center, peach in the middle and lime at the edges. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 6 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.

It has the faintest scent that smells like fresh linen, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
