Golden Jade

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short caudiciform grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The asymmetrical stem is lime green, and is covered in brittle red spines. The curved, washed-out orange trunk can grow to as much as 1 foot (30.5 cm) in diameter at the bottom. Its orange-yellow branches are very short and slender and start growing at the base the stem.

The thick bunches of jagged-edged, pleated leaves are solid gold or blood red, with violet edges. They are rigid, and detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 8 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a single flower with solid green petals and a cyan central disk grows at the top, reappearing after 6 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with handfuls of widely spaced round-tipped petals. It has a faint scent that smells like a woman.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the light grey flesh is waxy, and the turquoise sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
