Lilac

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in delicate, knobbly, brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is gray.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with small bunches of huge, thin leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with hazel tips.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, azure blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like pepper.

In early summer it produces , circular fruit. The crispy lilac skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft silver flesh is savoury and syrupy. The brown seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
