Silverpetal
Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 37 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has numerous very thick, curved stems covered in thick, cracked, light gray bark, and the wood inside is pine-coloured.
The branches are very long and thin that and are covered with very large amounts of giant, broad, flat, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid subtle yellow or olive, with black patches, frail and smooth.
In late spring it produces large amounts of small, silver blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like roses.
In midwinter small perforated fruits ripen. The leathery black skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the slightly crunchy hazel flesh is bitter and sticky. The caramel seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
