Silverfern
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This large caudiciform grows up to 81 feet (24.7 meters) tall. The slender, pointed stem is silver, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid blood red spines. The very thick, gold trunk can grow to as much as 81 feet (24.7 meters) in diameter. Its gray branches trail down across the ground.
The serrated-edged, perforated leaves are found in sky blue, dark grey and subtle green varieties. They are robust, and take some effort to detach.
It is steady-growing, taking 16 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are olive on the edges and gentle purple at the center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere with 13 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a faint scent that smells like rich perfume.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the crimson flesh is leathery, and the white sap is thin and has hallucinogenic properties.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
