Bronzeberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a stocky, wavy trunk covered in ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is white with black speckles.
The small clumps of branches are very long and thin and are covered with small amounts of miniature, stiff, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are generally green.
In early spring, it produces a handful of large, bronze blossoms with heart-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like ashes.
In early summer it produces , needle-like fruit. The rough peach skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is sweet, and the crunchy amber flesh is sweet and spicy and powdery. The vivid yellow seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is almost impossible to grow from cuttings.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
