Burgundy Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 510 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a narrow, wonky trunk covered in thick, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is yellow-brown.
The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with very large amounts of leathery, tiny, wispy leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either green or aquamarine, with pink streaks.
In late summer it forms giant, silver, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.
The leaves are overwhelmingly toxic, and very salty.
It is difficult to cut through.
Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
