Goldfruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in thin, smooth, light gray bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is dark brown.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of small, slender, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of lime that gradient shifts to white at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of medium-sized, gold blossoms with long, narrow petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like bleach.

In late summer it produces tiny, oval fruit. The hairy lime skin is thin and sweet and bitter, and the soft cyan flesh is sweet and very dry. The blood red seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
