Spineleaf Succulent

Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small caudiciform grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is emerald, and is covered in sharp spines. It has a straight, stocky, drab yellow trunk atop a stumpy stilted platform of cracked, exposed roots. The branches are bulbous and caramel and are very short and thin.

The rounded-edged, stiff, pointed leaves are either black or orange, with purple lines. They are flexible, and take little effort to detach.

It is very slow growing, taking 11 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with petals that are either muted orange or caramel, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing after 4 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 45 petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like new carpet.

The caudiciform's skin is thick, the turquoise flesh is slimy, and the florescent purple sap is thin.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
