Smokeblossom
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small flower grows up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. Its orange stems grow in bunches of 4 and are very thick with a curved tip, and the miniature, brown leaves are thin with jagged edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.
5 to 8 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 6 cm (2.4 inches) wide, with petals that are generally faded orange; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour. The flower head is made up of handfuls of petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight heart. They are very delicate.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is a self-pollinator.
