Silverpine

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall and lives for around 68 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous stocky, straight stems covered in very thick, smooth, silver bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are very long, thin and wispy with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of huge, very thick, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid black with bright blue zig-zags, rigid and fuzzy.

In mid-summer it produces large amounts of large, slate blossoms with many layers of petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have an intensely strong scent that smells like coconut.

In early winter tiny stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The fuzzy lilac skin is thick and inedible, and the soft bronze flesh is sweet and sticky. The dark brown seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
