Silkwood Tree

Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 494 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, angular trunk covered in hard, silky, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is black with white speckles.

The branches are short and thin and are covered with copious amounts of covered in fine hairs, giant, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either white, or brown with azure zig-zags.

In late summer it forms small, red, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
