Burgundy Oak

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This average-sized tree grows up to 55 meters (180.5 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 668 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, angular trunk covered in rough, dark gray bark, and inside, the very hard wood is burgundy.

The small bunches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with large amounts of clammy, huge, very thick leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in turquoise and green varieties.

In early spring, it produces many small, cyan blossoms with needle-like petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like paint.

In late summer it forms small, grey, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
