Clinging Vinefern

Flower type: Biennial (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This large flower grows up to 3.8 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its burgundy stem is very thin, and the large, emerald leaves are long, tapering with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 7 cm (2.8 inches) wide, with alternating petals of grey and grey, with a hazel central disk. The flower head is shaped like a bowl with 15 widely spaced, narrow petals. They detach easily.

It has a faint scent that smells like cheese, and it has a modest amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
