Spinevine
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short caudiciform grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall. The asymmetrical stem is silver, and is covered in thick sheets of rigid lime spines. The stumpy, red trunk can grow to as much as 6 feet (1.8 meters) in diameter. Its grey branches trail down to the ground.
The toothed-edged, asymmetrical leaves are either violet, or caramel with pink streaks. They are rigid, but easily come away when pulled.
It is very fast growing, taking 9 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are slate at the sides and beige at the center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 petals. It has a soft scent that smells like pepper.
The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the yellow flesh is leathery, and the light brown sap is thin.
