Spineleaf Starflower
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized caudiciform grows up to 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall. The very thick stem is dark brown and lime green, and is covered in thousands of fine, hazel, hair-like spines. The stocky, green trunk can grow to as much as 25 feet (7.6 meters) in diameter. Its silver branches are very long and thin.
The tattered-edged, circular leaves are generally violet. They are delicate, and take some effort to detach.
It is quick growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are generally bronze; each flower tends to be a variation of this colour grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a star made up of 14 tightly layered, round-tipped petals. It has a faint scent that smells like onion.
The caudiciform's skin is rock-hard, the drab orange flesh is smooth, and the lime sap is thin and causes severe cramps if consumed.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
