Climbing Crimson Vine

This modest-sized vine is a steady-growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 36 feet (11.0 meters) and growing as high as 26 feet (7.9 meters).

It takes 3 years for the dark brown or vivid purple stems to mature, by which point they sometimes have a diameter of 2 inches (5 cm) and are soft and flexible.

The triangular, crispy leaves reach up to 10 inches (25 cm) in length. They are either beige or green, with pink streaks, and have smooth edges.

During late spring, the vine produces a handful of small bronze flowers, and during the early winter, after flowering, it produces a modest amount of large fruits.
