Purplestem Grass

Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This short, burgundy grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The slender, pointed stalks grow in sparse patches that are strong and they spread and grow quickly.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a large, purple flower.

During the early winter, it produces lots of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with a handful of small grains.

It is suitable for making paper
It can absorb up to 13 times its own weight in water.
