Bloodwood Maple
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This small tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 585 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in hard, rough, burgundy bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.
The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of leathery, tiny, thin leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either lime or copper, with azure lines.
In late summer it forms large, blood red, shelled seeds.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
