Waterstem Willow

Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small tree grows up to 5 meters (16.4 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 334 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in thin, rough, yellow bark, and inside, the very hard wood is black with white speckles.

The abundance of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of smooth, giant, slender, pointed leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are found in white, lime and bold yellow varieties.

In late summer it forms small, light grey berries.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
It can flourish even in standing water.
