Turquoise Sunflower
Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This small flower grows up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. Its orange stem is very thick, and the small, yellow leaves are very narrow and elongated with irregular edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.
Around 20 small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with crimson petals on the lower layer and gold petals decorated with turquoise dots on the inner layer. The central disk is azure. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced narrow petals. They are hardy.
It has a weak scent that smells like misty mornings, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to butterflies.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The stems are covered in large spikes.
The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
