Giant Red Spikelet Grass

Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This giant, yellow grass grows up to 23 feet (7.0 meters) tall. The very thick stalks grow in thick clumps that are prone to bending and snapping under stress and they are slow to spread and grow.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a large, intense red spikelet.

During the early summer, it produces very little pollen, and after flowering, it is left with a handful of large grains.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
