Serpent's Spine
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized caudiciform grows up to 23 feet (7.0 meters) tall. The very narrow, elongated stem is red and dark grey, and is covered in handfuls of rigid red spines. It has a curved, thick, beige trunk atop a slender tripod of knobbly, exposed roots. The branches are very thick and moss green and trail down towards the ground.
The serrated-edged, wide leaves are lilac at the bottom and amber with florescent blue patches at the top. They are rigid, but detach easily.
It is very fast growing, taking 5 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with white petals and a yellow center, grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 40 petals. It has the faintest scent that smells like a woman.
The caudiciform's skin is nearly impenetrable, the blue flesh is slimy, and the dull red sap is thin.
