Clinging Pinefruit
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 19 feet (5.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 42 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has a slender, wavy trunk covered in very thick, waxy, yellow bark, and inside, the soft wood is silver.
The branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of huge, thin leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are generally pink.
In early spring, it produces many balls of tiny, slate blossoms with many layers of petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a weak scent that smells like grass cuttings.
In late autumn it produces tiny, oval fruit. The leathery crimson skin is thick and spicy and sour, and the soft brown flesh is spicy and juicy. The silver seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
