Whispering Willow
Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 48 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several narrow, curved stems covered in very thick, cracked, yellow bark, and the wood inside is light brown.
The branches are short and thick that and are covered with handfuls of tiny, very thin, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of orange-yellow that gradient shifts to turquoise at the top, hardy and rough.
In mid-spring it produces lots of medium-sized, caramel blossoms with perforated petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like mint.
In early winter large long, curved fruits ripen. The soft lime skin is thick and inedible, and the very soft turquoise flesh is sweet and powdery. The grey seeds are small and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is difficult to kill and will quickly regrow if it falls or if its limbs are knocked off.
