Bloodfire Lily

This average-sized flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its blood red stem is wispy, and the huge, orange leaves are stiff, pointed with tattered edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

2 to 7 medium-sized flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 46 cm (18.1 inches) wide, with gold petals on the lower layer and dark brown petals decorated with peach dots on the inner layer. The central disk is beige. The flower head is largely flat with 29 widely spaced round-tipped petals. They fall easily.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like meat, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is enjoyed by several specific types of insect.
