Thorned Copperpillar
Succulent type: Caudiciform (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This huge caudiciform grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall. The thick stem is copper, and is covered in copious amounts of flexible pink spines. The straight, light grey trunk can grow to as much as 22 feet (6.7 meters) in diameter in the middle. Its washed-out yellow branches are short and thin and start growing halfway up the stem.
The small amounts of tattered-edged, very thick leaves are olive on the edges and cream at the center. They are delicate, but easily come away when pulled.
It is slow growing, taking 10 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are yellow on the underside and black on the top grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of many petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. It has the faintest scent that smells like blood.
The caudiciform's skin is thick, the grey flesh is waxy, and the washed-out yellow sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It blooms only at night.
