Golden Spruce

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, slanted trunk covered in delicate, smooth, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very light wood is yellow-brown.

The branches are very long and thick, with hundreds of twigs covered with small amounts of tiny, orange-yellow needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces tiny, black seed pods.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.

It is often home to a particular bird species.
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and are suitable for boiling.
