Clingvine
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This big shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 118 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has numerous slender, slanted stems covered in very thick, cracked, black with white speckled bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.
The branches trail down towards the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of miniature, perforated, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are brown and indigo, rigid and soft.
In early summer it produces thousands of tiny, vibrant orange blossoms with fan-like petals. They fall easily and have an intense scent that smells like mango.
In late autumn small pentagon-shaped fruits ripen. The rubbery aquamarine skin is thick and edible when boiled; it is bitter and sour, and the very soft violet flesh is bitter and spicy and juicy. The black seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
All parts of the cactus are edible.
