Greyfruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This large fruit tree grows up to 24 feet (7.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 28 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, angular trunk covered in thin, rough, brown and grey bark, and inside, the dense wood is pine-coloured.
The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of huge, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are grey and cyan.
In early spring, it produces many balls of large, dull green blossoms with finger-like petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like cotton.
In early summer it produces , triangular fruit. The soft beige skin is stretchy and edible when roasted; it is sweet and spicy, and the very soft light grey flesh is sour and savoury and syrupy. The green seeds are tiny and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
