This burgundy moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps On rotten logs.
It is average-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is overwhelmingly durable.
When mature, emerald heart-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores.

It is possible to grow it from cuttings.
It has impressive regenerative properties.
