Hazelbell Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 62 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wavy trunk covered in paper-thin, smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the very dense wood is silver.

The numerous branches are long and slender and are covered with handfuls of giant, circular leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are vivid green at the bottom and hazel with ashy orange edges at the top.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, blue blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like varnish.

In early summer it produces very large, spherical fruit. The fuzzy hazel skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is spicy and sour, and the slightly crunchy peach flesh is bitter and powdery. The bronze seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

The leaves are bitter, but very healthy.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
It is suitable for making strong rope
