Blackbark Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This modest-sized tree grows up to 39 meters (128.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 68 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in thick, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is mahogany-coloured.
The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of leathery, large, very thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of lime green and gray-green that gradient shifts to slate at the top.
In late summer it forms small, olive, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It is often referred to as the most beautiful of all flowers.
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
