Silverbell

Flower type: Annual (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This large flower grows up to 5.3 feet (1.6 meters) tall. Its orange stem is thin and splits into 5 branching stems a quarter of the way up, and the small, silver leaves are pleated with smooth edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from the base up to about halfway.

Two small flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 44 cm (17.3 inches) wide, with grey petals and a blood red central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of dozens of widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like old books, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by the wind and is ignored by most insect species.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
