Magenta Willow
Shrub type: Deciduous (Evergreen - keeps its leaves all year round)This enormous shrub grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 158 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.
It has many narrow, straight stems covered in knobbly, dark green bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.
The branches are short stubs with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, wispy, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are dark grey and pale purple, delicate and soft.
In mid-summer it produces dozens of tiny, magenta flowers with broad, flat petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like leather.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
