Lilac
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 48 years. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has several knobbly, straight stems covered in paper-thin, silky, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.
The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of large, thin, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid lilac or olive, with green lines, light and soft.
In late spring it produces many clusters of small, peach flowers with spear shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like leather.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
