Indigo Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)This average-sized tree grows up to 43 meters (141.1 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 382 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a narrow, crooked trunk covered in ridged, silver and white bark, and inside, the dense wood is white with black speckles.
The thin clumps of branches are short and thick and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, giant, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are indigo and green.
In early spring, it produces thousands of large, brown blossoms with oblong shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like fresh linen.
In late summer it forms large, drab red, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
It is suitable for making strong rope
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
