Indigo Bush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 194 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has many long and flexible, straight stems covered in hard, knobbly, light gray bark, and the wood inside is pale brown-grey.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright that and are covered with thick bunches of giant, sickle shaped, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are amber on the sides and indigo at the center, tough and covered in fine hairs.

It produces a handful of medium-sized, brown flowers with heart-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have an overpowering scent that smells like musk. In mid-autumn it forms smallolive, winged seeds that float and land far away.


It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
