Silverbell

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 161 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has many very thick, straight stems covered in paper-thin, ridged, silver bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are short, rigid and upright that and are covered with large amounts of giant, broad, flat, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid light blue or peach, with dark grey streaks, resilient and smooth.

It produces copious amounts of small, amber flowers with wide petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have the faintest scent that smells like paint. In mid-summer it forms tinyintense green, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The sap causes severe rashes
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
