Yellow Sandflower

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its stem)

This big flower grows up to 4.1 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its moss green stems grow from the base of the plant in bunches of 7 and are thin and straight, and split into many branching stems at the top, and the huge, yellow leaves are white on the underside and are stiff, pointed with smooth edges. 8 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Several small flowers grow in a bunch at the end of the stem. The flowers are 16 cm (6.3 inches) wide, with dark grey petals and a magenta central disk. The flower head is made up of 27 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cube. They are hardy.

It has a weak scent that smells like freshly baked bread, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by insects , but only one species in particular.
