Purplebell

Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.4 feet (43 cm) tall. Its purple stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the large, orange-yellow leaves are thick with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 23 cm (9.1 inches) wide, with petals that are azure on the underside and muted green on the top. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 30 petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like new books, and it has very little pollen; it can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects , but is also visited by a small species of bird.


It is suitable for use as a construction material
It has impressive regenerative properties.
