Greyfern
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, crooked trunk covered in fine, ridged, brown and grey bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.
The branches are very short and thin, with thousands of twigs covered with thick bunches of small, moss green needles. The needles themselves are tough.
In late summer it produces small, gold, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It is very resistant to fire damage.
