Bloodvine
Flower type: Perennial (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. Its red stems grow in bunches of 7 and are wispy with a curved tip, and the tiny, blood red leaves are wide with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.
A single small flower sits at the end of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with cream petals and a brown central disk. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 28 tightly layered, narrow petals. They are sturdy.
It has a fairly strong scent that smells like blood, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to bees.
