Sky Blueberry
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 16 feet (4.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 75 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a stocky, crooked trunk covered in hard, rough, silver and white bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.
The small bunches of branches are long and slender and are covered with large amounts of miniature, asymmetrical leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are found in azure and dark grey varieties.
In early spring, it produces handfuls of small, lime blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like something putrid.
In mid-autumn it produces , circular fruit. The waxy slate skin is tough and inedible, and the very soft sky blue flesh is sweet and dry. The ashy orange seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
