Blackwood
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a long and flexible, crooked trunk covered in hard, ridged, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the hard wood is mahogany-coloured.
The abundance of branches are very long and thin, with hundreds of twigs covered with very large amounts of tiny, brown needles. The needles themselves are frail.
In late summer it produces tiny, black, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
