Indigo Silverberry

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 110 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of sturdy, crooked stems covered in waxy, silver and white bark, and the wood inside is black.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of miniature, thick, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in silver and indigo varieties, delicate and soft.

It produces clusters of small, copper flowers with kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like blood. In late autumn it forms smallhazel, shelled seeds.
